New Year’s Resolutions Can Be Bad For Your Health. There is an Alternative…
Do you make New Year’s resolutions? If so, it is likely that they do not always work for you. This is easy to predict. New Year’s Eve is usually a great night, with plenty of parties. Many people are over-drinking, over-smoking and over-eating. It is the easiest thing in the world to decide to give up drinking, smoking and/or over-eating when your stomach is full and you stand there with a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other. I’ve heard many people vow to give them up at midnight for the rest of their lives….
Unfortunately, this steely resolve does not always last. Some can go hours, others days, a few can go weeks, months or even years before falling off the rails again and finding themselves in a place of frustration and despondency. This is because they have just added guilt to their list of things to cope with.
In my experience, guilt is a major contributor towards stress, which is one of the major causes of heart disease.
