The day I was promised $10.8 million. How does one respond to that?

Every now and again various African doctors find my address and promise me millions of dollars from dead friends who have no relatives to leave their money to. You may well have received a similar e-mail of this apparent good fortune.

How do you respond to this? Do you delete the e-mail or will you do something to bring a smile to your face!

Here was the e-mail that I received today…

Attention:Adam Shaw,

Well, I am .Baker Samuel, a Solicitor and the Personal Attorney to Late Mr. Albert Shaw, a national of your country, who was a Petro Chemical Engineer and Consultants contracted with Benin Petroleum SA.

On the 23rd November 2008, my client, His wife and their two Children were involved in the Car-crash in Benin Republic.

Unfortunately, they all lost their lives in the event of the crash. Since then I have made several inquiries to your Embassy to locate any of my client’s extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful.

After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to trace his relatives over the Internet to locate any member of his family but to no avail, hence, I contacted you to assist in repatriating the money left behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the Bank .
The Bank has issued me a notice to provide the next of kin or have the account confiscated.

Since I have been unsuccessful in Locating the relatives for years, I seek your consent To present you as the next of kin of the deceased since you have The same last name so that the proceeds of this account valued at £10.8 million can be paid to you.

I will procure all Necessary legal documents that can be used to back up any claim we may make. All I require is your honest cooperation to enable us seeing this Deal through.

I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement that will protect you from any breach of the law; therefore I want you to send your details such as:

Full Names…………………..
Mailing address………………
Tel/Mobile Number…………….
Fax Number…………………..
Occupation…………………..

Meanwhile, you can call me at + 229 967 80 440 or( barr.bakersamuel@yahoo.com )

And here was my response….

Dear Baker Samuel,

Thank you for your most generous offer.

After receiving your e-mail today I quit my job, took out a loan for $1 million and booked my place on a trip around the world. Your generosity has brought tears to my eyes. Whilst the nature of the untimely demise of your client and his family under such tragic circumstances is unfortunate, every cloud has a silver lining and I am grateful that at least we will benefit from their misfortune.

Fancy finding me, someone that you’ve never met before, and showering me with such a large amount of money. I feel truly blessed. In fact, I’d like to offer you a tenner in good faith whilst we all wait for the cash to clear. If you could send me:

Full Names…………………..
Mailing address………………
Tel/Mobile Number…………….
Fax Number…………………..
Occupation…………………..
Age…………………………
Private Email………………..
Preferred sleeping arrangement………
Reason for living………
Belief(s) about karmic laws
Reason for such a generous offer……..
List of things that you will be spending your money on………
Reason that you think I would be willing to work with you…….
Detailed analysis of your vision and long-term strategy…….
How many gifts will Santa be bringing you this year because you’ve been such a good boy…….

I look forward to your response.

Warmest wishes,

Adam Shaw

I’ll credit your account with a tenner and you will have all of my account details so that you can transfer the money effortlessly.

Have a bit of fun this Christmas by using everything as an opportunity to put a smile on your face. I may not be $10.8 million richer this Christmas but I am going to be a little happier than usual this year.

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas,

Adam
